Nail Trimming

Toenails are often forgotten and can easily get out of hand. Inside a dog’s toenail is called “quick,” just like under our own fingernails. The quick grows with a dogs nail and the longer the nails go untrimmed the longer the quick will get. If the quick is cut the nail will bleed and it does hurt, just like if you were to break your nail behind your own quick.

If you are not comfortable doing your dog’s nails, please visit us or your preferred groomer. Nails should be done every 2-4 weeks to prevent any damage to your pets feet and to your furniture, floors, ect.

 

Nail Trims

(Dremel or Clippers)

Most dogs are not particularly fond of having their nails trimmed, so we try to make the experience as relaxing and fast as possible to avoid stress or injury. We allow your dog to position themselves to a state of being that is natural and comfortable for them. The more comfortable that your pet is, the less stressful the experience will be.

Dremeling is another way to trim your animals nails. It takes the sharp edge off a dogs nail while taking the nail back further then you can with trimming. Some dogs prefer dremeling instead of trimming. Your furniture and hardwood floors will stay free of scratches this way!

 

Bath and Tidy

We bathe your pet with a relaxing scrub to remove the dirt and debris hidden deep in their fur. We then hand dry your pet and tidy the hair around the eyes, feet, and sanitary areas. Followed by a complimentary nail trim and ear cleaning/plucking (if requested).

 

Full Groom

Our full groom package includes a thorough shampooing and a full body hair clipping of your choice to suit your dog’s needs, lifestyle and breed. Whether you need to get your dog ready for a fancy photo shoot, a competition, or just a romp in the park, we’ll do the job!

 

De-Shedding 

We offer the finest de-shedding service in town. we use a well known product from the FURminator® company. We shampoo and condition your pet, letting it sit for 5-10 mins. This allows it to work its magic! It opens up your pet's hair follicles removing the dead undercoat. This treatment will drastically decrease shedding. We reccomend doing this every 6-8 weeks. Even short-haired breeds can benefit from this treatment.

Here at The Bark & Feathers, we handle all types of special requests — from age or health-related requests, to grooming requests such as Dinosaour cuts or a Mohawk cut on your special pet!
